Biomass Briquettes Pellet Features:
- Renewable energy fuel. Hence the supply is abundant and inexhaustible, all year round.
- Pollution free. Because unlike coal there is no sulfur content and no fly ash produced while burning briquettes.
- Produces white smoke while burning compared to black smoke for coal. This is because it has a higher burning efficiency than coal and lignite and there is no fly ash produced while burning.
- Lower ash content (2% to 5%) compared to coal (20% to 30%).
- Lower moisture (3% to 6%) compared to coal (20% to 25%).
- Higher practical calorific value (3500 to 5000 Kcal/kg). Due to higher carbon content and significantly lower wastage in ash content and moisture.
- More cost efficient than coal. This is because of better thermal output and complete burning leaving no residue or ash. This translates into reduced boiler maintenance, longer life for the boiler and reduced expenditure on waste management.
- Reliable transportation at a small cost. Because briquettes are manufactured near the consumption centers, unlike traditional fuel where transportation is a huge cost.
- Carbon credits. Industries that need to curb their carbon footprint can benefit from this immensely.
